HYDERABAD, Jan 15: The mothers of Mohammad Ismail Gaddi and Mohammad Hanif, who were shot dead on Dec 30, 2002, in Latifabad, and Asif Kaimkhani, who was injured in the firing, have threatened to observe hunger strike if the killers were not arrested within three days.

They were speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Wednesday. The children of the victims were also present.

They regretted despite the lapse of 17 days, police had failed to arrest the killers.

They said the killers were narcotics dealers, who had also murdered a transporter, Khursheed, in 1985, and another transporter, Malik Aslam, in 1998.

They appealed to the president, Sindh governor, chief minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and other authorities concerned to order the arrest of the murderers.

EPA: The local chapter of the Environmental Protection Agency, in collaboration with the traffic police, has launched a campaign against defective vehicles.

The EPA has taken legal action against a large number of smoke-emitting buses, coaches, trucks, coasters, rickshaws and other vehicles.

A spokesman of the EPA has warned the vehicle owners to get rid of pressure horns and search lights from their vehicles, besides urging them to keep their vehicles fit otherwise legal action would be taken against them.
