HYDERABAD, Jan 15: The fourth additional district and sessions judge, Hyderabad, on Wednesday reserved the judgment in bail applications of Nasreen Jatoi, Shafqat and Aslam in the Shahnaz Jatoi murder case.

Shahnaz was tortured to death in November 2002 on the pretext of Karo-kari in the Lalu Lashari goth, in the jurisdiction of the Pinyari police station.

Zahoor A. Baloch represented Shafqat and Aslam, uncles of Shahnaz, and Anwar Jatoi appeared on behalf of Nasreen, the mother of the girl.

NOTICES ISSUED: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Wednesday issued notices to the Sindh AAG and the SHO of Gulshan-i-Hali police station for Jan 22 on a constitutional petition.

The petition was filed by Anwar Zaib, the son of Awami National Party vice-president Aurangzeb Khan, who is charged with the murder of Ismail Gaddi and Hanif Pathan. Mohammad Yasin, the manager of Aurangzeb Khan, is the co-petitioner.

The regional police officer (RPO), DPO, Additional DPO and the ASP, Cantonment, have been cited as the respondents.

The petitioners said on Dec 30, Aurangzeb and his two sons, Zaib and Hashim, were booked in the double murder case of Ismail Gaddi and Hanif Pathan.

They said Aurangzeb had gone to village to see his son, Hashim, who was ill, at the time the incident took place.

They said the police had been conducting raids for the arrest of Aurangzeb and his son.

They prayed the court to order the police to produce a list of cases, if any, against the petitioners, and direct the RPO to provide protection to them.
