KARACHI, Jan 1: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has successfully implemented the integrated border management system (IBMS) at Khokhrapar border, the first rail link to have become operational with the system.

The IBMS was aimed at better management of passengers of all entries/exists through this station, said a Nadra spokesperson, adding that till date around 800 passengers had been processed through the system.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, she said that the system was designed and tailored specifically as per immigration laws of Pakistan, which helped prevent illegal entry, use of counterfeit documents, human smuggling, and other travel fraud.

According to her, Nadra is a partner in the implementation of IBMS to replace the existing PISCES system at all the entry/exist points in the country, including airports, railway stations and land routes.

It is worth noting here that IBMS is already operational at all major airports, including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta, as well as at Torkham, a land route to Afghanistan.

Highlighting IBMS features, she said it was designed to document and save the entire process from visa issuance till departure and arrival from and at the country. The system helped check not only human trafficking but also prevented illegal immigrants from fleeing the country.

According to her, the IBMS has been equipped with the latest technologies for advanced fingerprint matching and specialised handling for different categories of travellers.—PPI
