KARACHI, Jan 1: A judicial magistrate issued on Tuesday non-bailable arrest warrants for four policemen over their extended absence in illicit weapons cases.

Amir Farooq, Toor Khan and Umair Sami have been charged with carrying unlicensed weapons in March 2009 in Surjani Town.

Inspector Syed Mohiuddin, sub-inspector Shafiq-ur-Rahim, ASI Adil Akhtar and constable Waseem Ahmed of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) were the prosecution witnesses.

The court had repeatedly issued summons and warrants to the policemen on the previous hearings with the direction to appear before the court and record their evidence. However, they did not turn up.

Judicial Magistrate (west) Sadruddin Bohyo issued the warrants and directed the SSP (AVCC) to arrest the policemen and produce them till Jan 15.
