Abid outslugs KPT’s Abdullah

LAHORE, Jan 13: Wapda’s pugilists dominated the first day of the 27th national boxing championship which started at the Wapda Sports Complex, Kot Lakhpat on Monday.

Boxers from Army and Sindh won two fights each. Karachi Port Trust, Railways and Navy were victorious in one contest each.

Wapda’s  international  Abid Ali defeated Abdullah  Qambrani (KPT) in 51 kgs weight category.

  Wapda’s other successful boxers were Sohail Balouch (54kgs) and Hayatullah (57 kgs).

From Army, Akhtar Parvaiz (51 kgs) and Aqeel Ahmad (54) won their respective bouts.

Following are the results:

48kgs: Ali Balouch (KPT) bt Amar Yaqoob (NWFP); Arshad Hussain (Railways) bt Abdullah Wahab (Balochistan).

51kgs: Abid Ali (Wapda) bt Abdullah Qamrani (KPT); Shahid Khan (Sindh) bt Saeedullah (NWFP); Akhtar Parvaiz (Army) bt Gul Draz (Railways); Jawad Hussain (Navy) bt Javaid (PAF).

54kg: Sohail Balouch (Wapda) bt Muhammad Ashfaq (Railways); Aqeel Ahmad (Army) bt Tariq Amin (Punjab).

57kg: Afzal Qmbrani (Sindh) bt Intizar Hussain (Railways); Hayatullah (Wapda) bt Saleh Muhammad (Army).
