KARACHI, Dec 31: Officials of law-enforcement and intelligence agencies, Citizens-Police Liaison Committee, city government and power utility met on Monday to review arrangements for the Chehlum of Imam Hussain.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, said a spokesman of the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh.

He said the Rangers and police officials finalised security plans to ensure foolproof security during the Chehlum.

The spokesman said that temporary pickets being established would be manned round the clock.

Snipers would be deployed on the rooftops along the route of the main Chehlum procession. The route would be sealed, he added.

Besides, snap checking would be enhanced, he said.

Under the security plan, aerial surveillance would also be carried out, the spokesman said.

He added that the religious scholars from all schools of thought were urged to foster peace and amity and inter-faith harmony during the Chehlum.

The Sindh home secretary, Rangers director-general, additional inspector-general of police, joint director general of Intelligence Bureau, Karachi commissioner, representatives of the CPLC, Karachi city government, KESC and senior officers of the paramilitary force attended the meeting.—APP
