ISLAMABAD Dec 30 : Residents of the capital have expressed serious concern over the increasing number of stray dogs in the area.

“One feels threatened these days walking the streets of Islamabad,” said a resident pointing to stray dogs on the street, in a residential sector.

Herds of stray dogs are roaming freely in the area while the concerned authorities are yet to launch a campaign to cleanse the streets, complained the resident.

Stray dogs are seen everywhere in the city, including outside schools, colleges and hotels, added the resident.

During the night and in the early hours, stray dogs come out on the roads and chase motorcyclists and other vehicles, harassing people, said the resident.

On the other hand, there are unconfirmed reports of dogs attacking residents, which have made parents apprehensive about the safety of their children.

Residents from different walks of life have urged the authorities concerned to look into the matter and come up with a strategy to reduce the number of stray dogs on the street.—Online
