RAWALPINDI, Dec 28: The three-day short interval additional dose (SIAD) campaign to administer anti-polio vaccine to the children at high risk areas of the Rawalpindi district has been extended for another day and this time rain was the main culprit behind the extension.

The campaign, started in the garrison city on December 27 would now end on December 30.

On Friday, the vaccinators started administering polio drops at 9am but had to stop at 10am because of heavy rain and informed the city administration that they could not continue the campaign any further.

Upon this, the City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) informed the Punjab Health department about the situation.

The health department officials directed the CDGR to extend it for another day. Now, the SIAD campaign will end on December 30 instead of December 29.

According to the health department plan, 1,168 vaccinators had to visit each and every house to administer anti-polio drops to over 200,000 children in 63 union councils of the district.
