Crime and police

Published December 25, 2012

THIS is apropos of Mubashir Mahmood’s letters ‘Rising crime in Karachi’ (Dec 11). Only a few weeks ago, I was robbed at Boating Basin, Clifton, near an international bank.

The robbers were confident and seemed as if they knew the police would not come for a while as it was a service lane having eateries. I went straight to the police station where they made me wait for one hour before giving me a blank piece of paper to write an application.

Clearly the staff of the police station was least bothered and only to my dismay I found another person there who was robbed in the same area some 10 to 15 minutes before me. I have heard from neighbourhood that it is a favourite spot for these robbers. This shows that it is a hot spot which the police fail to realise. While I was about to leave the police station, a person came and made calls to some friends of his and was later welcomed warmly by the SHO while his report was lodged immediately.
