ISLAMABAD: The nation pays tribute to the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, on his 136th birth anniversary on Tuesday.

The day will begin with special prayers and Quran Khwani at the Mazar-i-Quaid.

Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan will air programmes highlighting the Quaid’s principles of faith, unity and discipline.

Private channels have also made similar arrangements.

Newspapers will bring out supplements stressing the Quaid’s struggle for a homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent in the face of opposition from Hindus and the Congress party.

Mohammad Ali Jinnah was born in Karachi on Dec 25, 1876. He received his early education in the city of his birth and did Bar-at-Law from England in 1896. Mr Jinnah died on Sept 11, 1948.

The Quaid’s vision of Pakistan was a democratic and impregnable welfare state where every citizen enjoyed equal opportunities.

In Hyderabad, the Sindh Museum and the Sindh Culture Department have chalked out events to honour the occasion. A two-day exhibition featuring photographs of the Quaid and his colleagues is the highlight of the day.—APP
