KARACHI, Dec 24: Two improvised explosive devices and a cracker went off in different city areas on Monday causing fear and panic among the citizens.
Police said that no casualties were reported in the three explosions.
They said that the first IED went off in Rehri Goth within the remit of the Quaidabad police station on Monday morning.
The Bomb Disposal Unit said that the IED contained two kilograms of explosives and was laced with ball bearings. It was placed in a garbage dump in Rehri Goth’s Swabi Town.
Quaidabad SHO Amanullah Marwat said that the IED exploded when the garbage was set to fire as per normal practice for its disposal.
The second IED exploded on Monday evening in the Landhi area near Murghikhana Stop close to a private school.
The outer wall of the school was partially damaged in the blast.
The police said that ball bearings were found near the scene of the blast.
A cracker blast took place in Orangi Town’s Sector 5 on Monday evening.
The police said that two men riding a motorcycle hurled the cracker near a playground in Orangi Town and rode away. No casualty was reported in the incident.
