KARACHI, Jan 12: Eighteen vehicles — seven cars and 11 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, police said.

Five cars were hijacked. Two others were stolen.

Five motorcycles were hijacked. Six others were stolen.

Police also claimed on Sunday to have recovered five vehicles in the city.

DIES: A security guard died when his gun accidentally went off in New Karachi Industrial Area late Saturday night.

Police said that Gul Sher, aged 25, was cleaning his gun while on duty outside a textile mill when it went off accidentally critically wounding him.

He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
