ISLAMABAD, Jan 11: President Gen Pervez Musharraf said on Saturday that economic cooperation between Pakistan and Japan had remained firm despite “efforts by the ves-ted interest to disrupt the process”.

The president was talking to Ambassador of Japan Minoru Shibuya who paid a courtesy call on him.

The president said that Pakistan enjoyed cordial and friendly relations with Japan.

According to an official announcement, Gen Pervez Musharraf expressed the confidence that Mr Shibuya’s appointment as ambassador to Pakistan would serve to further enhance these cordial relations.

He wished the ambassador a pleasant and rewarding stay in the country.

The ambassador thanked the president and the government for the hospitality and cooperation being extended to him in Pakistan.
