HYDERABAD: Federal Minister for Political Affairs Maula Bakhsh Chandio has said that after nominating the chief election commissioner of Pakistan with complete consensus, the caretaker government would also be announced after consulting all stakeholders.

Addressing a press conference at his residence on Tuesday, Chandio said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is committed to hold the general election on time and it does not have any plans to postpone it.

However, while responding to a question, he made it clear that, “we don’t know whether a particular group is trying to create a situation to get the election postponed……and if so, government would not be responsible for that.”

Commenting on the ongoing rift between judiciary and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the minister said the PPP respects judiciary as its leadership had presented themselves before the court. He said they had avoided confrontation by accepting verdicts of the court, adding that confrontation between people and institutions was not a good omen for the country and the nation.

Responding to a question regarding a public gathering organised by the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) in Hyderabad, Chandio admitted that Pir Pagara (Pir Sibghatullah Shah) has a following to demonstrate such a gathering.
