INS grants parole to Pakistani family

Published January 12, 2003

LOS ANGELES, Jan 11: A Pakistani family, pending deportation, was granted a humanitarian parole by the INS on Friday based on the medical needs of the their two American-born children.

A representative of the INS Philadelphia District Office called the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations to say that a parole had been granted and that the concerned people no longer needed to contact the office.

The man granted parole had been detained by the INS on an eight-year-old deportation order. The family’s request for asylum was denied at that time. Two of his children are American citizens who have severe congenital conditions that require round-the-clock medical care.
