JACOBABAD, Jan 11: Federal labour and manpower minister Abdul Sattar Lalika has said he has not supported the construction of the Kalabagh dam.
Speaking at the “farmers day” in Naseem Khan Khoso village here on Saturday, he, however, said there should be more reservoirs to meet the water shortage.
Later, talking to newsmen, he said waterways in Sindh should be lined to avoid water seepage.
The minister said due to flaws in the irrigation system, 60 per cent water was being wasted.
He said unemployment was a big problem and it needed to be addressed.
LARKANA: The federal minister has said five nursing schools will soon be established in remote areas of the country.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said sites for the purpose would be selected keeping in view demand of nursing staff abroad and in the country.
He said training schools and institutions in other discipline would also be set up.
He said Pakistani ambassadors had been given the target to search for jobs for the people abroad.
Responding to a question, Lalika said the government would complete development schemes that had been left unfinished.
He said Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali would visit Larkana in February to inaugurate labour colonies.
He said quarters in these colonies would be allotted in a transparent way.
Responding to a question, the minister said the government was in touch with Pakistanis working in foreign countries.
When asked why Dr Ishratul Ibad of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement had been appointed as the Sindh governor despite cases against him while Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif had not been allowed by the government to contest the October 10 election, the minister said if anyone had documentary evidence against Dr Ibad, he or she should bring it in notice.
SUKKUR: The federal minister has said it will be ensured that the special grant of Rs5 million, announced by Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali for MPAs, MNAs and Senators, is utilized in a transparent way.
Talking to newsmen here the other day, he said in past such grants were misused by some legislators.
He said the prime minister would soon announce a package for people.
