SUKKUR, Dec 16: A tribal court (commonly known as Jirga) on Sunday ordered the head of a family to pay a fine of Rs800,000 for the murder of a man who had sneaked into his house in Murad Sanghar village of Ghotki district some four months back with intention to steal buffaloes.

The Jirga, headed by Wadera Ibrahim Chachar and Karam Ali Chachar, was held in Goth Kheri within the katcha area of Ghotki.

Wazir Chachar told the Jirga that his brother, Meehal Chachar, was killed by Razoo Sanghar after sensing that the victim had sneaked into his house with intention to steal the buffaloes. Razoo Sanghar defended his act of offering resistance and said that in the ensuring gun fight, the thief sustained fatal injuries.

In its decree, the Jirga ordered Razoo Sanghar to pay a fine of Rs800,000 to the victim’s family as compensation. It made him to pay Rs200,000 instantly to the victim’s father, Muhammad Tayyab Chachar, and allowed payment of the remaining amount in two instalments within a period of two months.
