QUETTA, Dec 9: The National Accountability Bureau, Balochistan, has initiated inquiry against six provincial ministers after receiving complaints about their alleged corruption.

Balochistan NAB’s Director General Burhan Ali said this at a seminar held here on Sunday. He said corruption ratio was now higher than in the past and NAB Balochistan had received several complaints about misappropriation of government funds and an inquiry had also been ordered against six provincial ministers for their alleged irregularities in recruitment of employees in their departments and misappropriation of funds.

He said cases would be registered against these ministers if they were found involved in corruption.

He said misappropriation of funds and irregularities in recruitment of employees in government departments was on the rise in the province.

“We have finalised a policy to conduct inquiry into funds spent and those still being spent on mega development projects in Balochistan,” Mr Ali said.

He pledged that NAB would do its best to bring to justice those involved in financial irregularities. Babar Yaqoob Fateh Mohammad, Chief Secretary of Balochistan, said that some government officers were patronising corruption.

“We cannot hold only politicians responsible for this scourge as some bureaucrats are also involved in this illegal activity,” he said.

He asked government officials to be honest and not to obey illegal orders of their high-ups because the Supreme Court, in a recent verdict, had provided full protection to all honest and upright government servants.
