MUZAFFARABAD, Oct 2: An army officer was removed from his position in the AJK Ehtesab Bureau in what was stated to be a disciplinary action, it was learnt here on Tuesday.

Maj Sardar Shabbir, who was recently posted as deputy director inquiries/investigation from his earlier assignment as deputy director co-ordination, was sent back to his institution with immediate effect by the new deputy chairman, Brig Hanif, sources said.

Removal of Maj Shabbir was the first order of the new deputy chairman after taking the charge on Monday, sources said.

The main allegation against the major was issuance of NOC to Sardar Kamal, an XEN of the AJK Electricity Department, for a foreign trip in August. The XEN was wanted by the bureau in a corruption case and the issuance of the NOC to him had surprised many in the capital. He has fled to Canada, sources said.

Meanwhile, sources said, Raja Shahjehan, an AJK police officer serving as director investigation in the bureau, has also been sent back to his parent department by the new deputy chairman.
