KARACHI, Dec 8: A 50-year-old woman was killed when armed men fleeing from a jewellery shop in Saddar after a botched robbery attempt fired indiscriminately into a crowd on Saturday, police said.

Munira Bano, a resident of an apartment in Saddar, sustained a gunshot wound and was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where she died during treatment, the police added.

The police said three youngsters entered the jewellery shop in Najmi Market near Bohri Bazaar and held the salesmen and customers hostage at gunpoint.

Unaware of a worker in another portion of the shop, they were busy collecting valuables when a security alarm went off that panicked them, said Malik Ahsan, the area’s deputy superintendent of police.—Staff Reporter
