LAHORE, Dec 7: The City Traffic Police has announced closing the Kalma Chowk for traffic for nine days from Dec 22 to 30 for the construction of the dedicated bus track Metro Bus System (MBS) project.

A spokesman for the traffic police said a traffic diversion plan would be made public on Saturday (today).

The closure of Kalma Chowk will add miseries to motorists already facing frequent traffic jams due to the construction of the MBS.

A senior TEPA official told Dawn that alternative routes were under planning. Another official said the closure would increase a severe traffic burden on Main Boulevard (Gulberg), Canal Road, Jail Road, Model Town roads, Garden Town and Muslim Town and the road leading to Qaddafi Stadium.
