DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 9: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) government is misleading the people in the name of Islam.

This was stated by former provincial minister and leader of ANP Farid Toofan while talking to newsmen here on Thursday. He said in October general elections, the MMA bagged votes on name of Afghanistan and now in by-elections the whole provincial government machinery was busy to support the MMA candidates on the name of Iraq issue.

Farid Toofan condemned the policy of provincial government on Kalabagh Dam and on province’s name.

He warned that if the province’s name was changed against the wishes of people and government followed construction of Kalabagh Dam, the ANP would resist.

He further alleged that the MMA rulers were diverting public attentions from genuine problems by raising dead issues like Kalabagh Dam and derailed from its manifesto of establishment of Islamic system in the country.

Toofan further said that the MMA got votes on the name of Islam but it was on its toes to take over Islamabad which showed their intentions. He said much trumpeted MMA campaign against America had exposed its leaders when instead of Muslim country’s diplomats, they gave briefing to American and western diplomats after general elections in Islamabad.—PPI
