KARACHI, Dec 3: A rousing reception awaits newly crowned world amateur snooker champion Mohammad Asif when he arrives here from Bulgarian capital Sofia in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to information available here, the Qatar airways flight carrying him, other player Asjad Iqbal and two PBSA officials, will land at the Quaid-i-Azam international airport at 4.45am.

Patron of PBSA, Asghar Valika, will lead the team that will receive Asif at the airport upon his arrival.

Meanwhile, a number of people connected with the promotion of cue sports, have announced lucrative prizes in cash and kind for Asif for winning laurels to the nation.

Business tycoon Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, who is patron of PBSA, announced Rs200,000 and permanent job for the world champion.

Similarly, Javed Karim, senior vice-president of PBSA and secretary of the Karachi Club, announced a matching purse on behalf of KC and two-year permission for using KC billiards hall for practice.

Jamil Sakrani, who heads Sindh Billiards and Snooker Association and Wahid Qadir, senior vice president PBSA, also announced Rs0.1 million apiece.
