KARACHI: Repair of roads demanded

Published January 10, 2003

KARACHI, Jan 9: Bitterly criticizing the administration of the Union Council, UC-7, Saddar Town, for ignoring the maintenance of roads and for poor sanitation, the residents of the area on Thursday demand of the City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, to pay an urgent visit to the locality.

“Condition of Sir Agha Khan-III Road, connecting the M.A Jinnah Road to the Nishter Road and the Hir Anand Khem Sindh Road, in UC-7, would not be better than the roads in war-torn Afghanistan”, a shop-keeper, Mohammad Akram, said, adding that except for large buses and water tankers, majority of the vehicles had abandoned the route.

According to the residents of the area the business in the Garden area had declined sharply, owing to the poor communication facilities.

The children were suffering because their school vans had refused to come to the area due to the road conditions, a woman said.—PPI
