RAWALPINDI, Nov 30: The rat-bitten newborn baby was discharged from the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) on Friday.
The family named the baby as Abdul Wahab. However, hospital administration, doctors and nurses called him ‘Haibat Khan’. They said due to the incident, the principal of the attached college, the hospital chief, three administration officials and three nurses were suspended. “A large number of doctors, including the powerful principal of the medical college, were removed,” said Abid Hussain, a doctor in the hospital.
Mussarat Jehan, a nurse, said fear and panic gripped the patients. The suspension of a large number of doctors and nurses also terrified the staff. As a result, we called the baby ‘Haibat Khan’, she added.
The baby was taken to his native town of Sarai Kharboza near Tarnol. The mother was happy to take her child home safely. “My child suffered a lot during his stay in the hospital,” she said while talking to newsmen.
