PESHAWAR, Nov 30: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home and Tribal Affairs Department on Friday constituted a committee to review the draft New Prison Rules, 2012 for making recommendations within 15 days.
A news release issued by the department here said that the inspector general of prisons in the province headed the committee, which consisted of a representative of the Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Department and the in charge of the Home Department’s (Court Section).
Also in the day, the provincial Home Department formally requested the Health Department for early appointment of medical officers to prisons in four districts of the province.
In a news release, the department said there was acute shortage of medical officers at the Haripur, D.I. Khan, Bannu and Swat central jails to the misery of the respective administrations and prisoners.
It said the provincial Inspectorate of Prison had long been demanding the posting of medical officers to the said prisons.
