Rawalpindi, Nov 29: An alleged drug peddler sustained multiple bone fractures after he jumped off second floor of a building to escape a police raid in Sadiqabad on Thursday, police said.

The victim, however, denied the police claim and alleged that he was pushed by the police.

Asim Khan, in his 30s, was moved to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital. After receiving first aid he was discharged as his condition was stated to be stable.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Shoaib Khan claimed that the police carried out the raid to arrest a suspected drug peddler. He said on spotting the police, the suspect ran towards the rooftop of a private hostel building and jumped off and fortunately landed on the roles of wire lying there.

Jasim Khan, the brother of the victim, disputed the police claim accusing them of torturing his brother and pushing him off the building.

He said Asim Khan had to get Rs3,000 from a man, who called him late on Wednesday night to collect his money. The man, accompanied by two policemen, took Asim to the hostel.

He further alleged that first his brother was tortured by the men in civvies and police uniform who pushed him off the double-storey building. Later they dropped his injured brother at the hospital gate and disappeared” He said that if his brother had been in possession of narcotics, he would have been arrested by the police and moved to the hospital in custody soon after jumping off.

“My brother had been associated with a mobile phone company as a security officer and was to join a private bank as Cashier.

How could he be carrying narcotics as the police claim”, Jasim Khan added.

Asim Khan, the injured also filed a written complaint with the police accusing the two policemen and three private persons for pushing him off the building.

On the other hand, the Sadiqabad police have registered a case against the injured on the charges of possession of 210 grams narcotics.
