JST leader

Jeay Sindh Tehreek (JST) secretary general Dr Safdar Sarki visited the hunger strike camp set up by the Sindh Taraqqi-pasand Party (STP) at Naseem Nagar Chowk and expressed solidarity with the protesters, our staff correspondent in Hyderabad adds.

Speaking to the STP workers, he said that the controversial local government system being introduced by the government had triggered agitation across the province but the government was not ready to heed the voice of dissent.

He appreciated the STP for continuing the hunger strike, which entered its 52nd day on Tuesday, and said that the sustained struggle would succeed in forcing the government to repeal the Sindh People’s Local Government Act, 2012. STP leaders Qadir Channa, Hoat Khan Gadhi, Muzaffar Kalhoro and others were present.

He said that the Nov 30 strike called by the Sindh Bachayo Committee and Sindh United Party would prove to be a referendum against the law.

STP leaders vowed to continue their struggle until the law was repealed.
