KHULNA: Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will miss the first two one-day internationals against the West Indies after suffering a shin injury, a team official said Sunday.

The 25-year-old's injury will add to the home team's problems after a 10-wicket defeat in the second Test on Sunday, meaning they lost the two-match Test series 0-2.

Shakib had an MRI scan after the fourth day of the second Test on Saturday and was diagnosed with a stress reaction of the right tibia.

“We have decided that he will take no further part in the second Test match and will miss the first two one-day matches in Khulna,” team physio Vibhav Singh told reporters before the second Test finished.

“We will review his scan report with an orthopaedic specialist in Dhaka to decide the best management plan for Shakib.”

The first two matches of the five one-day series will be played in Khulna on November 30 and December 2.

Shakib scored a fighting 97 in the second innings of the second Test besides bowling 52 overs for his four wickets in the West Indies' first innings of 648-9 declared.

He also completed his 100 Test wickets during the match and is now the highest Test wicket-taker for his country with 102.

Left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafique was the only other Bangladeshi bowler to take 100 Test wickets.
