Injured ASI dies

ISLAMABAD, Nov 23: A police official who was injured in an attack on the Tarnol police station on September 21 died here on Friday.

ASI Sher Mohammad, 43, was hit by a bullet fired by Afghan nationals during a protest against the anti-Islam film produced in the US. The deceased, a native of Lillah near Jhelum, was father of six children.

On the occasion of his funeral prayers at the police line headqu-arters, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said he would recommend ‘Sitara-i-Shujat’ for the deceased. The minister also announced a Rs3 million compensation for the family of the victim under the pr-ime minister’s package for martyred personnel. — Staff Reporter
