BAHAWALPUR, Nov 23: A major portion of the development funds for the district councils is feared to lapse owing to rules and regulations.

Under Section 119 of the Local Government Ordinance, the development funds of any district and tehsil council will be spent with the approval of a “city committee board” to be set up in the jurisdiction of their respective district and tehsil body.

As no board has so far been made anywhere in the province, it is feared that the funds may lapse.

RALLY: A rally to condemn the American aggression against Afghanistan was taken out here after Juma prayers from Jamia Masjid Al-Sadiq.

Leaders belonging to the Jamaat-i-Islami, the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl), the Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan and other religious parties addressed the participants at the Chowk Bazaar. The participants dispersed peacefully later.

A heavy contingent of police accompanied the rally.

BODY FOUND: The body of an unidentified woman was found from a road leading to Fatowali by the Khanqah Sharif police.

According to police, the body has a bullet wound in her neck with her lips chopped off.
