ATTOCK, Nov 21: Construction work on Haji Shah village mini dam project was inaugurated on Wednesday, which will complete within a year and provide irrigation and drinking water to the village.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Sheikh Aftab Ahmed was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony and was also attended by political figures and government officials.
Briefing the participants, an official of Small Dams Organisation (SDO) said the project would Rs357.2 million.
Of this amount, Rs35.59 million has been paid to the owners of lands, acquired for the project, they claimed.
The water storage capacity of the dam will be 2,200 acre feet, which will be used for the irrigation of 1,600 acres land of Haji shah, Gondal and other villages, the official said.
He said the length of the channel would be 1550 feet. Besides, the dam water will also be used for the drinking purpose, and in this regard a filtration plant would also be installed there.
Moreover, the dam will also be used for fish farming, he maintained.
Later addressing the ceremony, MNA Aftab Ahmed inaugurated the project.
