RAWALPINDI: President Ayub Khan will address the opening session of the National Assembly when it meets later this week which will be held in camera, it was learnt today (Nov 18).

The National Assembly, will be given full opportunity to discuss the repercussions of massive military aid to India by Western countries on the pretext of war with China.

Practically all aspects of Pakistan’s pro-West foreign policy will come under heated discussion and generally members would demand reshaping of Pakistan’s attitude towards so-called allies and friends.

The Opposition comprising at least 60 members will press the Government for withdrawal from the Commonwealth and scrapping of SEATO and CENTO pacts because, as an Opposition leader put it, “pacts and alliances with the Western Bloc have proved their hollowness and Pakistan cannot depend on America or Britain any further”.

‘Time to grow up’: Bhutto SUKKUR: Mr Z.A. Bhutto, the Central Minister for Industries, Natural Resources and Works, said in Larkana last night (Nov 17) that people of Pakistan should not give another chance to those leaders who had forfeited people’s confidence in the past.

It would be a great disservice to the nation and democracy if the old “discredited’ leaders were once against brought in to influence political events in the country, he added.—Agencies
