PROVIDING education has turned into a most profitable business with no checks. Parents have been victims of school managements’ tactics.

Frequent rise in school fees, sudden demand of money for different reasons, annual fees, etc., are common examples.

This is not the end of their business earning but to get commission from booksellers, transport, canteen, uniform sellers and other sources also form a significant part of their revenue.

This is height of injustice that parents are even compelled to buy books and school - printed costly copies from school - authorised bookseller or school canteen, otherwise the school managements do not accept the course.

One can easily realise the problems of middle and lower class parents who have to fulfil the unjustified demands of school managements.

This is my suggestion in the context of above that parents action committee should be formed in every school ‘by law’. The prime objective of this committee should be to safeguard the interests of students and their parents and to prevent the unjustified decisions of school managements.

Moreover, this should be mandatory for school managements to get the consent of the parents action committee before taking a decision on any matter which affects the interest of parents or students.

This committee should be elected by parents of students every year.

Although vigilance on school managements is the responsibly of authorities concerned, it is regrettable that they have been playing silent spectators for ‘known reasons’ and provide open opportunities to school managements to exploit the parents.
