LAHORE, Jan 6: The Punjab government has decided to teach English as a compulsory subject at primary level and computer and other technical subjects at secondary level from the coming academic session in the state-run schools.

The decision was conveyed by Education Minister Mian Imran Masood to Governor Khalid Maqbool in a meeting at the Governor’s House on Monday.

They also discussed different policies already implemented in the education sector.

The governor said it was the need of the hour that every student should be made computer-literate as well as learn a technical trade to meet the local requirements.

Mr Masood said the political government would immediately introduce newly revised syllabi for classes I to XII and implement reforms in examination system.

He said the government would organize a professional audit to judge teachers’ calibration in the government and private sector schools.
