Cyber cafe owners warned of action

HARIPUR, Jan 6: The local administration has asked all the internet cafe owners of the district to follow code of ethics.

A meeting attended by the police officials, internet cafe owners and reporters on Sunday decided that those violating the moral principles, which were made mandatory to be observed, would be dealt severely.

The use of the internet facility particularly through net cafes, either for desired purposes or otherwise, had witnessed an upswing, providing equal opportunities to some greedy owners who do not let any chance of misusing the facility, go waste.

According to some people, who complained to the administration, the cafe owners not only downloaded X-rated movies in specific files for the visitors but also provided them with the facility of CD Rom for playing the films of their own choice.

Annoyed with the debilitating affects of the net cafes a number of parents protested with the local administration demanding a close vigilance.

Acting on the directives of the high ups the local police though in a belated but right move invited the internet cafe owners and newsmen for preparing a code of ethics.

As per requirements of the code of ethics cafe owner would ban use of CD Rom in the cafe, would not allow access to any of the users to pornography, the cafe cabins would be door-less and open to view for all.

The meeting also constituted a committee comprising two net cafe owners, two newsmen and the SHO of the city police station to monitor the cafes.

The SHO of the city police station, Naqeebullah Khan, had warned the cafe owners to strictly follow the code of ethics otherwise the violators would punished severely.
