SWABI, Nov 14: A constable of police elite force and his wife were killed by his in-laws here on Wednesday.

Police said Fazal-i-Maula and Farrukh Zaiba, both from Gumbat village in Mardan, recently married on their own free will to the annoyance of the girl’s family.

They said after marriage, the couple shifted to Sheikh Jana village of Swabi for security reasons.

Police said the girl’s relatives gunned down the couple near Mansabdar village bus stand, where the two died instantly.

They said Kalu Khan police station had registered an FIR against Muqadar Khan, Meraj Nabi and Taj Zaman of Gumbat village over the killings and began investigation.

Also in the day, police seized a hand grenade in a busy market in Shewa Adda area and defused it.

Local shopkeepers had informed police about the hand grenade.

ANP CLAIMS DELIVERING THE GOODS: The Awami National Party leaders on Wednesday said after the 2008 elections, their party formed the government under critical circumstances but managed to come up to the people’s expectations by good governance.

Addressing a public meeting in Nabi area, ANP Senator Azam Hoti said the people would never side with small nationalist parties, which were trying to exploit public sentiments by hollow slogans.
