ISLAMABAD, Jan 6: Former prime minister and chairperson of the PPP, Benazir Bhutto, has urged President George Bush to review the decision of including Pakistan in the list of countries whose nationals have to undergo stringent registration procedures recently launched under the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS).

“A review of this decision would be widely welcomed”, she said in a letter addressed to the US President and delivered via the US embassy in Islamabad last week, according to the PPP media cell here.

The letter said: “On behalf of the Pakistan People’s Party, I write to convey the disappointment amongst the Pakistani community over the inclusion of Pakistani nationals in the recently launched National Security Entry Exit Registration System (NSEERS)”. This inclusion has caused much difficulty for the Pakistani community, she said.

She said Pakistan was a key ally of the US led wr aainst trror. “I hope it would be possible to review the decision to include Pakistan in the list of countries to which the NSEERS applies”, it concluded.
