FATEHJANG, Nov 13: Stipend certificates amounting to Rs150,000 were awarded to 35 position holders of various classes at the Government Boys High School No 1 Fatehjang on Tuesday.
The amount was approved by the Punjab Education Endowment Fund set up by the Punjab chief minister to help poor students.
Member of provincial assembly (MPA) from PP-17, Ch. Sher Ali Khan, was the chief guest at the occasion.
He said the the Punjab Education Endowment Fund was established with seed money of Rs10 billion to help the needy.
Sher Ali Khan said the fund was aimed at helping bright students who were unable to continue their studies because of poverty, and financial assistance would be given as stipends.
Ch. Sher Ali Khan said the government development funds would be provided for the construction of schools.
He said a grant would be provided for the construction of the building for male and female district education officers of Fatehjang.
Executive District Officer (EDO) Education Attock, Dr Umar Farooq, Assistant Commissioner of Fatehjang, Capt Bilal Hashim, and DEO Fatehjang Abdul Khaliq also addressed on the occasion.
