CAPE TOWN, Jan 5: Indian match referee Gundappa Viswanath has fined all the Pakistan players their entire match fees for slow play during the second Test.

After a humiliating defeat there was more heartache as the players went home empty-handed after taking 70 minutes longer than allowed when bowling all day on day one on Thursday and infringing again on the second day as South Africa reached a massive 620-7.

The Pakistanis’ match fee depends on seniority and status but ranges from an estimated £500 ($800) to £4,000 ($6,400).

Meanwhile, fast bowler Mornantau Hayward faces a disciplinary hearing this week for failing to disclose to South African cricket officials that he has signed for Worcestershire.

Hayward agreed a two-year deal while still contracted to the UCB. The contract expires at the end of April although the paceman will move to England in March.—Reuters
