ISLAMABAD, Nov 9: Secretary General of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jehangir Badr, on Friday said that decision of the Supreme Court in Asghar Khan case had proved that army generals and bureaucracy used public money to dislodge democracy.

“It will be unfair if they are not tried or exposed,” he said while talking to mediapersons and participants of an exhibition at Lok Virsa.

He said the government would ensure fair and free election, and the PPP would accept the decisions of people.

As the world has become a global village where every violation of human rights especially of women is noticed, the government should deliver on social and economic issues, Mr Badr, who is also leader of the house in Senate, said.

Earlier, Jehangir Badr inaugurated ‘Youth Art Show’ at National Culture for Democracy Festival.

As many as 35 pictures portraying the importance of democracy were displayed at the exhibition.

Talking to participants, Director, Lok Virsa, Sajid Munir, said that the function of his organisation was to preserve cultural heritage of Pakistan.

“We have been supporting all those who have been working on it,” he said.

The organiser of the exhibition, Munir Ahmed, said the exhibition was organised to create awareness of democracy among the people.

Young artist Mohammad Samar Bin Ramzan from Rawalpindi Arts Council bagged first position. Arsalan Mushtaq of Islamabad Model College for Boys F-8/4 obtained second position and two students Nihal Fatima of Comsats Institute of Information Technology and Aamna Khalid from Fatima Jinnah Women University stood third.
