LAHORE, Nov 9: A day after barring middle-order batsman Mohammad Yousuf from featuring in the ongoing President’s Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now stopped all-rounder Shahid Afridi from featuring in the event.
Afridi, who is passing through a bad patch, has decided to regain form by featuring in the President’s Trophy for his department Habib Bank Limited, which will be his first appearance in domestic cricket in four years.
The all-rounder could not play in the tournament since his department had not included his name in the 25-member list provided to the PCB before start of the event.
The PCB chairman is the only person who could enter any extra player in any departmental team on the recommendation of the national selection committee.
The HBL has therefore decided not to pursue Afridi’s case further.
He will now take part in the National T20 Cup which will be played from Dec 3 to 9 in order to select the Pakistan squad for the upcoming tour of India to be held from Dec 22 to Jan 7.—Sports Reporter
