BEING a renewable energy advocate, I remember how excited I was when I noticed solar-powered street lamps on the 5th road a year back.

I wished and prayed that these keep working as I feared what usually happens after a few months of inauguration/ commissioning of such projects.

It saddened me to read a news item as the state of affairs of our civic bodies, especially RDA and RTMA, have resulted in dysfunction and failure of these solar lamps due to mismanagement and gross irresponsibility for non-maintenance of solar streetlights in Rawalpindi.

The officials of the RDA and the RTMA should be ashamed of themselves as this is just an example of incompetence.

I, along with many other residents, abhor the attitude of the officials of the RDA and the RTMA and demand that these issues should be resolved as soon as possible.

The fight for turf has become a common reason for the already corrupt and ill-reputed organisations.

I request MNA Hanif Abbassi to take notice as it was a grant from him. He should do whatever he can in his capacity to correct this wrong.
