ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday summoned Abdul Qadir Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, and others in connection with the Haj corruption case, DawnNews reported.

The FIA issued summons for Qadir Gilani, his friend Zain Sukhera and others in relation to the case.

According to FIA sources, the statements of Qadir Gilani, Sukhera and others would be reviewed all over again.

The FIA issued the summons in light of an earlier backtracking on the part of Pirzada Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, a PML-N member of the National Assembly from Sahiwal, on allegations that he had levelled against Qadir Gilani in the Haj corruption case.

Shah had earlier accused Qadir Gilani in a statement dated Dec 22, 2010 of receiving a luxury bullet-proof Land Cruiser from the former director general Haj, Rao Shakeel Ahmed, the principal accused in the scam. However, after about one-and-a-half years, the MNA changed his stance and accused the FIA of cooking the story in order to trap him.

FIA sources claimed that the witnesses, Qadir Gilani and Sukhera were not pursuing the case as they reportedly had reached an agreement with the PML-N legislator and Shah had consequently changed his earlier stance on the issue.
