CHARSADDA, Jan 4: Federal Minister for Water, Power and Safron, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, said here on Saturday that the country had peacefully passed from a military to democratic rule and now the government was committed introduce a healthy and democratic culture in the country.

Addressing a public rally in Shakoor, northern Hashthnagar, the minister said that the government was determined to usher an era of peace and development in the country.

He said that his party believed in providing selfless service to the masses and that was why people reposed confidence in him and his party in the recent elections.

He said that in the forthcoming by-election in PF-20 people would once again prove that Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) was an unbeatable force in the area, adding that all parties had united against the PPP (S) candidate in the constituency for fear of loosing the election.

He also said that electrification of every corner and remote area of the district was his priority.

Sherpao said that the government was aware of the financial problems of the masses and that was why electricity tariff had been reduced by 12 paisa per unit.

He said that the issue of loadshedding would soon be resolved.

Others who spoke on the occasion are: Afzal Shah Khamoosh, central general secretary of Pakistan Communist Mazdoor Kisan Party and Alamzeb Umerzai, a provincial assembly member of PPP(S) from Charsadda.
