NAWABSHAH, Jan 4: Sugarcane crushing in the three sugar mills of the district — Habib Sugar Mill, Sakrand Sugar Mill and Al- Noor Sugar Mill — remained suspended on Saturday due to non- supply of sugarcane by the growers.

A meeting of the sugarcane growers will be held at the residence of Syed Zain Shah on Jan 6 to evolve future strategy against the sugar mills, which are not paying the fixed price of Rs43 per 40kg for sugarcane and also quality premium to the growers.

BODY: The body of an unidentified person was recovered from the Sim Drain near Bandhi on Saturday.

The body was brought at the Peoples Medical College Hospital here for post-mortem.

Another body of a watchman of the Sindh food department, Pandhi Khan Bhatti, was found at wheat godown here on Friday.

The body was taken to the PMCH for post-mortem and a case was registered with the B-section police.

The police suspected that the deceased was tortured before being killed and it was a case of an old enmity.

RALLY: A group of Jamali tribesmen took out a rally against the murder of Nazir Jamali here on Friday.

The rally began from Qazi Ahmed turn and terminated at the local press club.

The participants were carrying banners and placards and demanding arrest of the killers of Nazir, who was killed in Naushahro Feroze some days ago.
