KARACHI, Jan 4: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad visited on Saturday the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee’s head office and said there was a need to employ the latest technology and methods to maintain law and order in the province.

Talking to CPLC officials, he called for coordination between all organizations responsible for maintenance of law and order.

He praised the performance of the CPLC and said other organizations too should adopt similar methods, adding only then could the required objectives be achieved.

CPLC chief Jamil Yusuf introduced the CPLC officials to the governor and took him to various sections of the office and briefed him about their working.

The governor’s principal secretary, Akhtar Zamin, the deputy chief of the CPLC, Sharfuddin Memon, and other members of the CPLC were also present.

Dr Ibad suggested that to provide quick justice to the people, there be complaint centres where people could lodge their complaints. This would a better proposition than to increase the number of police stations.

He said the existing police stations should be properly maintained and their working be made more effective.

The governor was informed that after the promulgation of the ordinance against extortion, there had been a significant drop in such complaints.

He instructed that whenever any such complaint was received, immediate action should be taken.

The CPLC chief told the governor that record of crimes was being maintained and continuously updated.

Mr Yusuf informed the governor that a plan had been prepared and after its implementation production of prisoners in courts would not be delayed because of non-availability of prisoners’ vans.
