RAWALPINDI, Oct 26: In line with the government directives, the police on Friday removed banners of proscribed outfits seeking sacrificial animal hides from different parts of the city. However, no case was registered against any organisation.

The police carried out raids in Sadiqabad and New Town areas to bring down the banners.

The federal as well as provincial governments have already directed the district administration and the Punjab police chief to allow only those charity and religious organisations to collect the hides which have got NOCs.

When City Police Officer Azhar Hameed Khokhar was contacted, he said instructions had been issued to all the station house officers to strictly enforce the ban on setting up of camps by banned outfits to collect hides. “If anybody is found violating the ban, they would be treated according to the law,” he added.

The CPO said there would be a state of “high alert” in the city as extra police were being deployed on the eve of Eid prayers to avert any untoward incident.

The deployment of police and Elite Force will start at 6am on Saturday while police patrolling in the city had already been started.—Staff Reporter
