ISLAMABAD, Jan 3: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has asked the collectorate of customs (export), Karachi, to release the pending duty drawback amount of Rs2.616 million to an exporter.

The Ombudsman directed the collectorate to process the claims of duty drawback filed by the exporter in the years 1997 and 1998 and determine the amount of refund, which should be paid within 30 days of the receipt of this order.

According to the FTO judgment issued on Friday, the collectorate was asked to fix the responsibility of inordinate and unjustified delay and take appropriate disciplinary action against the delinquent officer/official within 60 days of the receipt of this order.

It was asked to submit compliance report within a week after implementing these decisions to this office, said the FTO.
