KARACHI, Oct 20: Traders and industrialists here on Saturday decided to hold a sit-in on Nov 3 at Governor’s House and Chief Minister’s House for restoration of peace and to protest rising incidents of extortion and kidnappings for ransom.
This was unanimously decided by the business community at a meeting held at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
It was decided that black banners would be displayed throughout the city.
A constitutional petition would be filed in Supreme Court for implementation of its previous orders regarding law and order situation in Karachi.
The KCCI leadership has also asked the general public to participate in the November 3 sit-in.
KCCI President Haroon Agar said that the chamber has requested the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to fully support the Nov 3 protest at the CM House and Governor’s House.
He said the KCCI leadership has also requested the FPCCI to reschedule their Nov 8 protest to Nov 10, in which all traders, businessmen and industrialists would participate.
He added that the strike would be observed if there is no improvement in law and order situation.
